Books, on us
Two books, both free to read in the browser, both published by the machinery this organisation is built to give away. No account, no email address, no paywall and no download unless you want one.
They are here for two reasons. The first is that they are worth reading. The second is that when a publisher tells you what it can make, you should be able to open the thing rather than take it on trust — and they are deliberately unalike, because a pipeline that can only produce one shape of book is not a pipeline, it is a template.

His name was Marcus von Eckwersheim, and what the record keeps of him afterwards is just as striking: twenty years on the council of the city he had fought for.

Surf the AI Wave came through the pipeline described on How It Works, end to end. The text was edited and proofed with machine assistance and human decisions. The pages were typeset from a single source into a print interior, a reflowing ebook and the web edition you can open above. The illustrations were generated and selected. The audiobook was produced without a studio.
The Name That Rode Before the Army is the other end of the same idea. It is a family's medieval record — a knight at the Battle of Hausbergen in 1262 — set as an illuminated manuscript you turn in the browser, and built from one source file into a single self-contained page: every illustration is carried inside the book itself, so it opens from a web server, a thumb drive or an email attachment, and will still open when this site is long gone.
Between them they took days, not quarters, and they cost no money — which is the entire point of this organisation, demonstrated rather than asserted.
Both are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. Read them, quote them, teach from them, translate them — just say where they came from.
